COLD CALLERS IN THE WHITEHAVEN AREA

Alert message sent 15/06/2017 15:29:00

Information sent on behalf of Cumbria County Council

Trading Standards are warning residents in the Whitehaven area about traders going door to door offering to carry out roofing work on their property.

Consumers should be extremely cautious when approached by any cold callers offering to conduct work on their property.  These types of callers often use persuasive or aggressive tactics to get people to agree to have work carried out and then charge far more than was quoted for poor quality work or poor quality goods.

Trading Standards advice is to always say ‘NO’ to any cold callers and to look out for elderly or vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.

Help us address these issues by reporting information to Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06, or visit www.adviceguide.org.uk. Alternatively you can contact the Police on 101.
