Information sent on behalf of Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service

Message from Cumbria Fire & Rescue

It has been brought to our attention that there’s been a recent incident in the Alston area where 3 individuals impersonated Fire Service personnel wearing a fake uniform and asking a member of the public to answer a questionnaire on their doorstep.

Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service personnel:

  • Wear a blue uniform with a distinct Cumbria Fire & Rescue crest on the left hand side of the shirt
  • Wear a County Council ID Badge
  • Would have a Fire Service vehicle with them
  • Unless there has been a fire incident in the area would have pre-booked a Safe & Well visit via telephone
  • Would not ask you to fill in a questionnaire on your doorstep

If you are in doubt please contact our free phone number: 0800 358 4777 to validate the visit.

Can we please ask people in the area to be vigilant and report anything suspicious to 101.
